DIN and our new Charitable Status

by Paul Steventon

With effect from January 1996 DIN has become a registered charity. Our credibility as an organisation has already been boosted by this welcome event, and the Board is determined to take full advantage.

The practical implications of the new status are currently being explored with our accountants, solicitors and potential donors, with a view to using it to maximum effect in furthering DIN’s constitutional aims.

As a charity, we are now able to:

  • Collect money directly from the public
  • Accept legacies, deeds of covenant and other financial gifts in a way which is very tax-efficient
  • Solicit funds from industry and other major donors
  • Hold sponsored events
  • Use the funds raised to improve the services DIN offers to clinicians researchers and patients alike

Members with special knowledge of charitable fund-raising or with a suggestion as to a particular means are very welcome to discuss their ideas with me or any of the Board members.

Please write or phone via the DIN office.

Looking forward to hearing your suggestions

Paul S.
